Australian Rail Track Corporation are upgrading the railway line through to Outer Harbor, in association with the new rail bridge, as part of the Port Adelaide Redevelopment.

Transfield, a partner in ARTC alliance, is installing a second dual gauge railway to allow extra trains to travel between the new Bridge and Outer Harbor, including those servicing Ausbulk, Penrice, the Mobil siding, and the container terminals,

This video shows a road-rail truck in use near Mobil Siding, transferring ballast in preparation ofr tamping.
