  • We got more and more naked in time while dancing, I think it because of the global warming..

  • Authentic? Can you name any one form of art that has not changed or modified over years of time? Dance is an art form like and changes with culture and the people who perform it. Just because it is different from the way another has done it doesn't make it inauthentic... only a new style. Whether or not it suits your taste is up to the individual. Even in the middle east there are many different styles of belly dance. If everyone were to perform it the exact same way.. it would be very boring.

  • now do it with someone sitting on the chair :P

  • Great clip.

  • Love the music! Where can I find more like it?

  • I just love old clips. Notice the feet are further apart and the hip movemnts are larger from the dancer with the chair. She must have strong teeth.

I really enjoyed the wings, they were almost hipnotic. I love to watch Samia Gamal,

and the others from the 1940's dance. Everyone interested in Belly dance should view the old clips at least once. Keep on dancing, Nonya

  • @tanfoukdance

what you said makes a lot of sense. It is interesting how the belly dance costume has evolved.- and is still evolving with American tribal and gothic bd!

  • @LadyMoondancer A BD teacher told me years ago that the bare midriff for Egyptian dancers started when the British were in Egypt and wanted to see dancers with bare tummies because that's what they were used to from India. Seems to me that the influence of dancers like Mata Hari who basically made up their whole sthick must have played a role, too.

  • she reminds me of my maid LOL

    تذكرني بشغالتنـــــــــا خخخ تشبه لهآ

  • I liked that song, what is the name??????? O:

  • It's great seeing things like this to see where the art has come from and where it's gone. I only wish that these old clips had sound so we could get a better idea of what the music that they were dancing to actually sounded like. Thanks for posting thais.

  • GRACIAS!!!!! GRACIAS POR TENER TODO ESTOS RECUERDOS MUY BUENO....
