100% Expert Vocals performance on Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, as it appears in Rock Band 3 for PlayStation 3.

This song is downloadable content for Rock Band 1/2/3 on the PlayStation 3 ($1.99), Xbox 360 (160MSP), and Wii (200WP).

As is typical for my videos, the original vocals by Gerard Way are minimized so you can hear what I'm singing.

Welcome to the Black Parade is an exhausting and somewhat difficult song to sing. There are a LOT of lyrics, and very few places to breathe, and there are harmony vocals layered all over the place.

The tricky parts of the song are the harmony part charted on the phrase "disappointed faces of your peers" and the rapid-fire lyrics in the outtro ("do or die, you'll never break me..."). The harmony phrase is a bit hard to hear, and It is easy to break combo in the outtro because the words are short and require a lot of accuracy to hit.

Aside from that, there's just a lot of singing in this song with few places to rest. Remember to take as many deep breaths in between phrases as you can manage and try to conserve your energy because you're covering a LOT of vocal parts. You can hear me getting tired toward the end of this video, and it really impacts my pitch accuracy until I can grab a solid breath or two near the end of the song.

  • Well, lemme get this straight. I lost the count of people dissing Icemage in the past because of his supposedly "flat" singing, back when he used to downshift songs that are out of his range by one octave.

But nowadays, people are trying to put him down 'cause he's using his falsetto to sing the original octave. Not that he's really bothering with the assholes, but all of this sounds really confusing. Drop octaves? Get dissed. Falsetto up to the original octave? Get dissed. ¯\(°_o)/¯ = my face.

  • @TidusOfSH Hah. I think that's the nature of YouTube. Some of the people who complain about me using falsetto (which you know I typically hate to use) would ALSO complain if I dropped an octave. I even get razzed when I do BOTH. :) As such, I just ignore the comments - so long as the people requesting the videos - who are the ones who want and need the help - are ok with it, I'm ok with it. I appreciate the words of support even so. :)

  • Awesome job on the outro! I always screw that part up. Do you use two mics? Just curious because this games sound output for vox is crap imo, but I can hear you very clearly. So I'm wondering if this is dubbed.

  • @RBGHfam I agree, RB3's vocal output is garbage. What I do is sing into two microphones - one for the game, and one connected to my laptop which is recording separately. I then mix that track back into the game audio, which is why you can hear me without so much of the interference that the game produces.

  • WOW dude that was an amazing vocal performance even though you used your own voice it was perfectly awesome XD, but man 100% flawless omg 0_0 I only get my percentage in the 90's XDD but I had some songs that were in the 100's bc I played it on easy XDDDD. Well you did a good job man ;)

  • Yea stick with your own voice, don't go high because people complaining about you not being the right octave. The only thing that matters is if you sound good, not like the band's guy lol.

  • Do you play ps3?

  • great job but changing the octive adds you own thing and i think you should sing where u are more comfertable

  • @EctInc LOL Cool i guess
