This was my very first release in 1983 on a label called 25 West. It developed into a freestyle, electro and sort of funky dance record. I wrote and produced it. I got some help on the B side from the ubiqutous and famous Timmy Regisford, who I enjoyed knowing and working with! The vocalist was Vanessa Siblies. The keyboards were done by Leroy (I'm really sorry that I can't recall his last name). I added one synth part during the break and leading into Leroy's smokin' solo. All the synths and drums were done on an Oberheim OBX system. The record was recorded on an Ampex 8 track recorder and bounced. The studio was a small but creative and comfortable place called ORA owned by the late Emil Zoghby. It was engineered by the talented David Dale. A great time, a great place, and great people who wanted to make a great first record! I hope you enjoy it!

  • really classic stuff man! thanks for posting

  • Didn't do this timely enough but I truly thank you!

  • And exist your album solo ? I like to hear old song with Oberheim stuff, Congralutions i like your style, you will must make new song, bye

  • No solo album Luigi. Thanks for your encouragement--maybe I will cut another track or two in the same style. By the way, I just remembered that we used a Yamaha RX11 for the drums. Somehow I still remember a DMX but this record is 24 years old! All the best, Mitch

  • @akaMitchRace

the drums sound like a DMX to me

  • just came across this today. thanks Mitch for listing the info about how this record was created.

  • Thanks for posting this. I might've passed on the copy I found at the store if I hadn't remembered this youtube upload. Hot track!

  • No. Thank You, Mitch. This is not a jam. It's a gem. Growing up in the 1980's, I love these type of beats. It beats all this new digital stuff of today and I like it's message. I'm not sure what all these OberheimOB-X, DMX, and RX11 machines produce but if it's songs like these then my next step is to educate myself about them. Thanx again Mitch!
