Eso es un misterio, todavia no se sabe porque cambiaron la forma de escribir el nombre de la espada, sustituyendo la "S" por la "X", a lo mejor fue un error de traduccion y se quedo asi el nombre, tal como la conocemos hoy en dia

Actually, Excalibur was made from Caliburn. It's sheath was enchanted by the lady of the lake and gave it immortality and healing abilities. When someone held it, it gave them those powers as long as they were touching. That's how King Arthur died. He had the sheath stolen and went to war with the people who stole it. After that, there are many thousands of different endings to that story. One is that Excalibur's sheath broke when he died and it reverted back to Caliburn.

@RedVsBlue725 did you know that Caliburn bacame Excalibur when it was thrown into the lake, by merlin... Arthur pulled out Caliburn from the stone and after he finished fighting in a battle he asked merlin to put it somewhere where no one could get it back. but merlin knew that arthur would need it in the near future so he gave it to the lady of the lake, and she named it excalibur because it could cut steel. That is my version lol i made it up but there is a chance.

I think that if Arthur pulled out the sword in the legend and fought with it, then mybe the sword would be near his death bed or somewhere near it, but first they have to prove that the legend is real. I think it is

Arthurs sword - which he gets from the Lady of the Lake - is called Caliburn. The name Excalibur comes later on in The Morte D'Arthur. They are the same sword. The sword in the stone doesn't have a name. And, apart from being stuck in 'a stone and anvil'.. there is nothing special about it. Movie makers and modern novellists have a lot to answer for.....

As with most legends, the details about Excalibur are different in each telling. Sometimes it's Excalibur in the stone, sometimes a different sword. Personally, I like the idea of him using only Excalibur, but my favorite version of the tale has it being two differnt swords. If you're interested, read The Pendragon Cycle by Stephen Lawhead. He takes the tale of Arthur and puts it into a believable setting in the real world, yet it keeps the magic of the traditional legend.

@Migueria cool, i just started reading my first king arthur book a few weeks ago and its been the best book ive ever read.

@1devo6587 But regarding Caliburn. In my book, he just throws it away after he accidentally kills one of his knights with it... and his enemies get a hold of it eventually... but I have read also the version where he accidentally kills his fellow knight with it and then breaks it and throws it away... and then receives Excalibur.

Caliburn also means: go through steel (melt steel/burn steel) :) if I am not mistaken. in Celtic.

@1devo6587 It just said the tale of King Arthur.... so I can't give u any specifics... anyway, there are a lot of versions. Anyway, the heart of King Arthur does not lie in the swords and the battles, but in the story and the ideas of chivalry and honor it holds and spreads. Also about leadership. So as long as u got those from your book and understood that, then you don't need another :).
