Somebody said he came from New Orleans, where he got in a fight over a Cajun Queen, and a crashin blow from a huge right hand sent a Louisanna fella to the promise land. --- Rappers these days don't have style like that anymore.

wanna good and funny mix up?
try 'the rappin' duke' !
classic comedy rap from the 80's and the birth of the era of rap when many were still trying to get it in gear and find a direction for it.

mostly because modern rappers have no clue what a good story really is!
Modern rappers are all about the crime, sex, and drugs, and being more badass than cops!
Coolio came close to a good 'story' with gangsters paradise. but beyond that ?????

cont: You are the victim of the revisionist and have been for most of your life and don't even know it. So much of what you probably think belongs to one group of people, really originated from other's who came before. Political correctness over the last 25 years has eroded our American history drastically and for the most part, it's been successful in it's alterations, but a lie is still a lie. Most of today's books and blogs are written by the liberal revisionist.

My point is where the origins of rap came from. I'm not a fan of it myself, but to each their own, right ? Whether today's rap has style or not, I don't feel will save most of it from being forgotten by the masses in the future, where this simple tale has survived quite well for more than 45 years. It's true that the story line is the main attraction though.

Revisionist nonsense ? There's a lot of that going on these days, pal, which is what I'm debunking, but try proving me wrong before you open your mouth. Read a book or a blog written by one of your left-wing, liberal, so-called authors who have little common sense? No. There is no link to speaking in rhymes in the African culture or in a cadence, but in the American Square Dance , it can be linked directly. Speed talking can be traced back to the auction houses. You grow up !

What a complete load of revisionist nonsense. Perhaps you should read a book not written by people you completely agree with. All arts do not come from white people only. Get over it and grow up.

Reading some of the other comments, I think where IGotYourBack got it wrong is when he said this song had style and modern rap didn't. Modern rap has style out the wazoo. This song has very little style. What it does have that modern rap doesn't have is story. If it wasn't for the story, this song, on stylistic grounds wouldn't get a second listen. This is a helluva story. A guy, who seems kind of mysterious and dangerous, turns out to be a savior.
