The fuel injectors are making some ticking noises (just means they are clean), but the rest of the engine is pretty quiet. This was filmed outside, so the injector sounds are not as extreme. See my last video for how the valves sound when they tick (look ~14 second mark).

  • so this is normal? i have a same E46 M3 2002. sounds exactly the same

  • @MrFurryface Yeah, perfectly normal. I can hear it on other owners' M3s.

  • @MrFurryface The ticking sound is coming from the fuel injectors. Get yourself a stethoscope and place it on the injector rail. It just means that those guys are clean.

  • Darn that doesn't sound right :( Did you have to re do it?

  • @simondalangpan Nah, it's just the injectors ticking. I've checked multiple times with a stethoscope.

  • my engine sounds the same.. This is a good sound right?

  • @neverquit250 Yes. I took a stethoscope to the injector rail, and all the ticking is coming from there.

  • Each engine valve bolt has to be torqued down to a spec number. if not clicking sounds occur.

  • yes, my E46 330xi makes that injector sound too. I guess its normal. maybe try some seafoam.
