This is me doodlin' around on the new NORD C1... tune is DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES... Just fiddling around with some of the settings, not trying to make any venturous improvisational statements or anything like that....
The most amazing thing: The C1 is run DIRECTLY into the CAMERA - - no Leslie, no speaker! ! ! We're definitely looking at a moment in history... CLAVIA has crossed the finish line... The perfect B-3 clone has finally hit the market and its only 15kg to boot...!!!

- - In answer to the question that's probably going to come up... Yes, foot pedals can be attached to the organ, but no they're not here. I'm playing the bass in my LH, as most (but not all) "Jimmy Smith" style organists do. (When I do have pedals I use them for taps and accents, but most the action is in my LH.)

Hope you enjoy... if you have something nice to say, please feel free to leave a comment...

P.S. sound is mono, left channel only... sorry!

  • I have a question I've been dying to ask someone like you. I just love this type of solo jazz organ by itself. I can listen to it for hours. No drums, no guitar, no bass; just the organ alone. So my question is what would this be called and where can I find more? Is it called anything? Is there a list of musicians who play this way only? I'd love to know.

  • @bostero1 Hi ! Its called screwing around with nothing better to do... :-) but I think I see what you're getting at... Jackie Davis played organ with the pedals - - I'm using my LH (though he was accompanied sometimes.) I'd suggest checking him out. Buddy Cole is another one (Have Organ, Will Swing) Not solo, but with the full sound... To be honest I can't think of a lot of recordings with organ only, but I think you'll like them for starters.

  • that C1 sure sounds good........got my self a clone,a Oberheim/Viscount organ....."wannabeB3" LoL! but i like it.

  • @MrKeys57 Before the new generation of clones came out the Oberheim/Viscount was THE only choice ! ! ! By the way I was in Jonkoping a month after 9/11. I played at a number of venues in the South of Sweden, then went up North to Stockholm and Borlange. I remember there was a big river, and I stayed at a guitarist's place on the "other side".

  • Mr. Landsberg, what kind of reverb or echo do you like to use? I believe you mentioned "hall" setting, but do I hear a delay on this?

  • @Mooser42001 Hi ! Wow, it was so long ago... I wish I could recall. The big issue is I like it wet, but to have a springy after effect because that's how a real Hammond sounds. Sometimes I use a really small amount of delay. If I'm playing solo, I'd put on a lot more reverb... live its just enough to make it sound like its bouncing off a wall.

  • This clone must be a hard rival for the new Hammond organs.(sound vs price)

    Nice playing!

  • that's some great playing... you began classically trained? Thanks for the video, I bought one of those but the electro II version and seeing how it's handled, especially the digital drawbars, is very good info

  • @EddieLandsberg, Thanks so much for that informative and quick answer! Now here's the big question: is delay-echo part of getting a good "squabble". I can get a half-assed squabble going, but I get the impression, when I listen to your right-hand work here, that the delay echo is a (necessary) part of producing the effect?

Thanks for that info on how you use reverb.

  • @JCJasion I just found your message - - I know it was a few years ago... Sowwie!

Stan "The Man" Harrison... yes... How's he doing ??? I forgot what I paid. I think I traded it for sexual favors with a drunk homeless person who had it sitting in a bag... long time ago... can't recall the full story.

  • @DDigital100 Sorry for the slow reply ! ! ! Left hand bass... I didn't have pedals back then, but even if I did, pedals would be used for taps and accents...

  • This is quite nice!

Think I'm gonna get into practicing that track now :D (Only knew it for the sax actually...)
