Seashells hold the sounds of the sea; DNA hold the memories of the coastal peoples. Youth took to the sand and sea on Kayaks. That evening, we all took to the fire, birdsongs and peon hand games. Bird singers from the Viejas Tribe were led by John Christman, Bobo, and Greybuck Espinoza. Singers and girls said they had never danced on the sand before. They did well, made all proud. The wind calmed, the tide rose and the sun set. Honored to have the birds with us at sunset, we all felt a great satisfaction. Miss Kumeyaay 2009, Emily ( San Ysabel) led the games with great inspiration as she did Kayaking through the sea caves. Pure and natural. Refresh, rejuvenate, re-generate.
