Interesting history here. They are all sons of U.S. servicemen who married English women. One of them was born in England.

I used to always think this was Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young for the longest time...when I used to listen to the classic rock station a lot, it's funny when I am older how much I know more about bands then i used to, wow i want to see this band in concert live sometime!!!! sweet! ;0)

IT always pissed me off when janet jackson sampled this riff...just another example of ANOTHER talentless jackson riding on the coat tails of REAL musicians (michael has the rights to the beatles)

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times October 1, 2006, he explained:
Regarding the lyrics, "Seasons crying no despair, alligator lizards in the air," Bunnell said: "The clouds. It's my brother and I standing there on the side of the road looking at the shapes of clouds while my dad changed the tire.

Aligator Lizards are native to southern California. When they run fast and leap it looks like they are flying. Some people also think looking up at shapes in the clouds may have inspired the line.

Only song writers know what really did inspire a particular lyric. It's very likely they got to see real aligator lizards leaping through the air while living in California.
