  • BTW: as submission101 said long a go this video and the comments on it will run and run! Feelings have run so high on this - that I have not approved comments that were abusive or included swearing. but otherwise i have allowed all comments as its a valuable debate.

  • That was a friend of mine who got slammed. So, I guess someone can win a grappling match without doing a takedown, getting a scoring position or going for a submission then. Just KO your opponent and walk off without even stopping to see if your fellow competitor is ok.

  • It was an ADVANCED catogory grappling match and as Huffy said; the rules where made very clear and it was within the rules. If the guy had any brains, he would have let go.

    stop hating.

  • @allentate if this guy didnt want to get slammed, he should have released his triangle when the guy was picking him up. too many bjj practitioners think slamming is somehow "dirty" or not "technical". but really most of the time, not slamming somebody when you're in a situation like that is the equivalent of not taking an armbar when somebody is sticking their arm out when you have them mounted. slamming is a part of grappling too.

  • 2:06 - The guy in the white kills the guy in the black.

  • @LevoUK If the rules allow it, then it's a legit move. That being said, what you've stated here is why it shouldn't be permitted in the rules. Picking someone up, while a feat of strength, is not really any showing of grappling skill whatsoever. I thought that's what grappling matches were supposed to showcase?

  • @rade1809 too true dude. Tucking his chin and having his hands out could've saved him. Don't know why he chose to cling like that. Only made it worse.

  • that took zero technique, u should be proud

  • That's the "advanced" category? I'd hate to see any of the lower levels...Their technique was awful.

  • Rules are what make grappling classier than mma. The rules make grappling more technical. It becomes more of a mental game.

Slamming has no place at a grappling tournament. I would consider 2 years experience a beginner. (unless you go to a little kids' karate school. Then, you're a black belt.)

6 to 8 years of BJJ training and I think you could say you are advanced.

  • Those are some BS rules for grappling tournament. I can understand that for a pro event but this is clearly an amateur event.

  • He should have done a break fall and he would have been ok. It's a basic thing that every grappler and mma fighter should drill at the warm up stage of each training session so they can do it at any moment should they need to. It's his own fault.

  • @doliveij

    That its retarded

A slam is a throw or a takedown, or show me a striking sport or MA that has slams on it.
