  • Pinkk -- I did not (and will not) watch this movie, but judging from the trailers & from listening to all the buzz about the film, I think I may have an answer to your question as to why black women are not "championing" this story:

...My best guess bet is that it is because there was no identifiable "black male" in the movie whom they could demonize as being the source of their vicimization.

    Your thoughts?

  • i agree. there was not pinata for the women to bash with a stick. Black women can only seem to understand their problems with a black man standing over them.

  • All Black people are the butt of jokes for Whites. Joke number one Blacks that celebrates fourth of July, America got its independence in 1776, slavery was not "abolished till 1865, but I see both Black Men and Women celebrating something that has notging to do with us. Sooo with that being written we can cleary see that both Black Men and Woman are indeed in the same boat. And both need to open up some history books.8

  • Pink elephant, the movie precious is just the start of more B.S. to come, black women want their shine and their chance in the spot light, well they u go, u will be getting the spot light more often than normal from now on. Good job bw, thank u for at least taking most of the media spot light of negativity off us black men, at least for once u all did something good for us. Thank u .

  • I agree fully with this video, a lot of us black men know the mentality of white people, we know about the exploitation of us black men in the media and movies etc etc, it is only bw that do not have a clue and that is sad, i say to ppl all the time, black ppl need to spend more time reading their history books than watching B.E.T and its said, alot of our black women do not know their history, nor do they wish to know so in essence, they will continue to be the butt of jokes for whites

  • I really don't see what the big deal about Precious was. At first, I was excited to see it, because I thought it would have touched me and just be as good as alot of people on the radio and tv said it was. I was really disappointed--they could have just shown that on the Lifetime channel. I'm dumbfounded that it was nominated for 6 Academy Awards. I'm still in shock. =/

  • It was a great movie.

  • lol man your comment made me laugh on how true it is.

  • lmao damn

  • @knowledgeblack2012

Shit, it's WORSE than The Color Purple. At least Celie has SOME hope.

  • I can't believe that Monique won an Oscar for an awful film that makes us black women look bad.
