Attempt #2 at oil painting. This one used a lot less colors, which was kind of a nice relief. I liked the end result of this one probably around a 6.5/10.

For those of you who know how to do this Bob Ross wet on wet technique... I need some pointers. Making the evergreen trees with the #2 brush is kicking my buttocks. I load the brush to a chiseled edge, and was (in my opinion) generous with the amount of paint I loaded, but I feel like I start tapping the branches out, but the paint doesn't seem to follow... or it does haphazardly and not uniform really. Not sure if that makes sense, but hopefully enough that someone may be able to point out what I'm doing wrong.

  • that is so beautiful! even better than the las one! (if that is possible)

  • Thank you very very very much! I am glad you like it :)

  • Well, ya did it again! Wonderful painting! Yep, I'm going to try painting once again. I believe I will start off small, then work my way up to a larger size painting. Now I wont be showing off my amateur stuff on youtube. But I will try to start making videos. I'm a little cam shy. I shall overcome this shyness!!!

  • I suffer from the same shyness... My first step was to tape the drawings, next step was to speak in the videos... I guess the next step will to actually be on the videos... but that one is a ways off :)

Something to think about: don't start *too* small. I actually think working small can sometimes be more difficult that working a bit bigger (within reason, of course). A bigger canvas gives more breathing room and room for details.

Would love to see your work when you are ready. :)

  • bravo!! 5 stars [=

im gonna go buy some oil paints tomorrow

and im gonna tackle my first oil painting ever! :O

  • Are you serious? If so, that is TOO COOL! Please please please post a video or a picture or something of your finished piece. Rock on!

  • what is the dog worried about? he's pacing

  • I like the painting alot, the depth perception gives it a good view

  • make sure you tap the 2 inch brush, sort of pushing the paint like Bob, even look at the end of it and make sure it isn't blobbed up in the brush hair. you've done a great job though, oh it doesn't take a great deal of paint either.

  • Fun, eh? Looks good. I gotta do the landscape thing one of these days. . .

  • hey...hey...hey... can u maybe possibly draw me in the impeding future? cus...cus...cus... u havent really drawn children in ur portraits and...uh...i think it would be good practice for you? :D please? it would mean a lot to me. trust me, it would.

  • Muwahaha... put the driftwood down and step away from the screen... :-)

  • Thank you very much! I have much practice ahead of me, but it's a fun ride for sure.
