I LOVE "Coinstar". I would gladly pay the 8% to not have to count the money, roll it and take it to the bank. I just used their service yesterday in fact. My 85 year old mother had jars of pennies, dimes, quarters etc all over her house. I surprised her by handing her $80.00 from all the coins i brought to the Coinstar machine. My only complaint is that it is not that easy to feed the machines with lots of coins....you have to keep making sure all the coins do not jam up.

One time i walked by the coinstar machine and decided to see if anyone forgot change in the tray in the bottom and i found a British silver 3 pence coin in it!!!

1. I actually enjoy counting all of my coins I've saved so far. 540 dollars as of yesterday. 2. My bank along with many other banks will do it for free.

One night I got blazed and realized I needed cash to get some more bud. So i spent an hour and a half looking for loose change throughout my house. I came up with $17. So I walked down to King Soopers at 9:30 PM (still pretty blazed) to use the Coinstar. Thinking I was a pro, I ignorantly pressed the middle option. Had no idea what it was, but I assumed I was on the right track. After pouring all my coins in, a little piece of paper came out. It said "Thanks For the Donation". FML lol

@JBHutto Because you have to roll up your coins before you can give it to the bank. And who would want to say roll up $50 in pennies and nickels and dimes. In Ontario, there's a law the prohibits gift cards from expiring.
-
@Hatchworkjust saying that, in general, if you have a bowl of change or piggy bank, why take it to something that's going to either charge you a certain % or just give you a gift card(that will expire at some point) when you can go to the bank and have them do it for free so you get cash to spend on whatever you want.
another thing, they should consider having some type of "points" program. that would offset the perceived uselessness of the machines and make more people interested
-
@JBHutto You can exchange 100% of your coins for a gift card with no charge/fee.

'Coinstar' is great, BUT you should have these machines in an out of the way, unassuming corner of the store, NOT in a busy area! It's embarrassing AND annoying when all these idiots walk by and make their stupid comments to me as i'm feeding my change into the machine! I almost decked some moron that said "must be nicer than getting a job" as he walked by!
-
Yeah, right, like I'm going to let these fucks take 10% of my money instead of going to a bank and just getting cold hard(on) cash. There's no reason whatsoever for this machine to exist, well aside from stupid people.

WOW! I just tried it. Its so easy to use . I made $65 with my change.
doesnt the coinstar takes away like 12% of your actual amount of money?
