Please Note: I do not support that these beautiful fish are kept in such a small tank for them. Notice that many of the fish which are swimming around make many circuits in every minute.

This tank is far too small for fish this size and this active. If such fish are going to be kept in a tank, it needs to be many times this size. And it needs to be that fish are kept here for very small parts of their lives only, so that the fish kept captive are free for most of their lives, meaning the captive fish are frequently changed.

I am not saying I support fish being captive at all in tanks smaller than very large aquaria. However if they are, tanks need to be large and the fish ought not to be held captive for all or much of their lives.

My first film shooting with the Kodak since taking the camera out and about. The glass was quite dark, and it's slanted, so more reflective than most glass. It may affect the clarity of the Kodak Z1485 close up, but not so much.

Nice subject, lovely fish, some nice light in the water despite that it's a bit dull due to the glass and lighting. However I don't think fish that size (or any size) ought to be kept in a tank that size. Bless them.

Comments after logging video: I thought that this Z1485's quality in 720p would be nearly preserved as published at the same pixel size and not reduced, but it's not quite as true to the original as I'd hoped. (I'd been used to posting original 1080p capture from another camera and I thought YouTube mostly reduced it quite well, only the odd time a film was not so worth watching when reduced.)

I'm pleased with the Kodak Z1485 is, knowing that Web video has to be in 720p anyway, probably for a year or so at least. Though some good 1080p recorders reduce to give really excellent 720p footage, better than you'd get if shooting at that frame size.

MUSIC: The video capture isn't pre-edited at all, this music is just courtesy of YouTube (by selecting AudioSwap with a track from their music, it's not a swap with any other YouTube posted video as I assumed it would be). The music swap preview function wouldn't work for me, so I selected deafly and it's there now, YouTube says it's:

"Ambient 7"
by Ewan McArthur
from album:
"Singles"

  • I have this camrea! nice video!!

The quality is good but not if your gonna make movies or shortfilms

  • I want to say that I like the quality of the 720p videos - to me the YouTube streaming reproductions don't quite do it justice (with this camera's film files) - the films are nice for 720p.

Have a look at this film made for a competition, nice considering it's made with a retail home stills camera that has 720p movie shooting capability. Type this into the YouTube search bar as here:

    8Hour in motion.

Given that YouTube's versions aren't as good, these are nice films.

  • i read the description and i agree they should be kept only part of there lives and set back in the ocean.

  • The tank must have been replaced since this video was made - yesterday it had curved glass and looks bigger!
