Mary McCarty performs "By Madame Firelli" and Jane Russell performs "Lookin' For Trouble" - the dynamite number which features her very skimpy costume. There was another filming of this song with an even briefer costume for European audiences!

  • The version I saw was as it was originally filmed: the costume had 3 large cut-outs (one vertical and 2 diagonal, around Ms. Russell's navel) and--unlike this censored clip--there were mid-shots and close-ups not all long shots. At the time, the censors went crazy--much to Howard Hughes' delight--resulting in much publicity and the re-shooting of this scene.

  • This is NOT a censored clip. The version you saw was the original version, which WAS shown in Europe. The version here is the American version.

Just a slight difference in terms, my friend.

  • I had never seen this. Too bad the song is really ugly, because she's of course fabulous...

Which year is this? She wears the very same hairstyle as in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

  • Well, there are 2 songs. Which one don't you like? Mary's or Jane's? Mary's song is very funny and Jane's is very sexy, which is what it's supposed to be. And Russell always wore her hair that way until she cut it very short in the late 50's. To each his own, I guess. The year is 1954.

  • @BuePi yes, there are some most definate B rated numbers in this movie.

  • Hey Lawd - or anyone - you guys seem to know Jane Russel history well ... so if someone can help me with this one scene (saw it in an RKO documentary hosted by Ed Asner) ...Jane is in a cow-girl outfit (no, not the one that's on youtube that's a red one-piece) ...with boots and guns at her side and I WOULD SWEAR she was in short-shorts with a small top (much like a dallas cowboy cheerleader) ...where she was singing about "westerns" in a very slow, sexy, melodic number. I MUST FIND IT! HELP!

  • Why oh WHY is this not on DVD???

I love the songs in this movie so much.

  • It's wonderful to see Mary McCarty performing. She was such an under appreciated singer/actress, and recorded examples of her talents are lamentably scarce.

I'm finding out about Jane Russel through this clip. Fine singer. Sexy woman. I'll have to look more into her.

  • i love Jane Russell she is very beautiful and an amazing performer! i wish she made more movies becuase she has a great ability to act!

  • jane had the best hair cuts of the fifties

  • some one has its on here now

  • Why don't today's models come on line like this instead of walking like horses???
