Yes, Billie was pumped and very determined here. Yes, Chris seemed nervous and it didn't appear that she was pumped, just kind of glad she made it to the final. Too bad, I think she had beaten BJK 4 times already in earlier 73. She also was up 5-3 vs Margt Court at French Open finals a few weeks before and couldnt close out. Just youth.

Chris seems nervous. But i guess she was still just a kid here - like 18 or 19 years old i think.

@2onegrams It usually isn't called "let" unless the ball becomes a disturbance to play. People sometimes hold 2 balls to serve, in case the first service is out, and sometimes they get rid of the unused ball (like Evert) before hitting certain shots (this is the 2-handed backhand for Evert.)

There was a ball falling out of Evert's dress when she was serving the first point at 5 all, somehow the umpire didn't call let and have the point replay.

The sport was definitely more entertaining in those days. Be nice if the sport used wooden racquets again.

I know....I liked the olden days much better.

BJK certainly had a presence out there. Evert and Goolagong had a lot of problems with her at Wimbledon

It's wonderful, isn't it? You know what I'm loving as well? No instant replay over and over and over ... great stuff. (The 40 - 30 point on Billie Jean's service was classic stuff.)
No preening, no looking up at the coaches (cheating!), no shrieking....just playing tennis. *sigh*

I've never known that the match in 73 is still good!
