Speaking as an Englishman and Ron Paul supporter who sees Gordon Brown as a complete twat, The only compliment I can offer Obama is that he's slightly less vile than McCain.
And while I see the point you're making, I find it really depressing that the masses can still be conned with such ease. They give us a cart load of crap and the wheelbarrow load somehow seems like a gift from God.
Also- If I hear another Kennedy comparison, I think I might stab someone in the face.

Obama has spent more in 100 days than Bush in 8 years, The PATRIOT Act still stands, NAFTA has not been reformed, Troops will be in Iraq til 2011 just as Bush stated, the White House still conceals info. that may disparage, Guantanamo is still open (and Obama only plans to move it to Ft. Leavenworth, KS) Obama supports rendition, Military commissions are being reinstituted, OBAMA LIED. His policies are all but identical to Bush's.

Just because a Messiah is unpopular does not make the fervor of his few followers any less idiotic.
The Messianic quality is not popularity, it is the level of devotion of his followers. David Koresh, Jim Jones, Warren Jeffs, and Charles Manson all had/have 'Messianic' qualities because of the single-minded devotion their followers gave/give them.

Obama is percieved as the anti-Bush is Europe - that's why he's so popular.
Whether that's true or not is an entirely different manner.
