Animal experiments are necessary evil.... if you have ever used any medical treatment, device, pharmaceutical its all been tested on an animal so you and I can benefit. Its about respecting the animals because they sacrifice for us.

... If you actually think that a sample of tissue could ever represent that complexity of an organism and the intricate chain reactions and feedback loops, then you are grossly misinformed. I am a neuropsychopharmacologist with a background in biochemistry and genetics. I can't argue the morality of animal testing, but I will say without hesitation that it works from both first hand experience and acquired data.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. in vitro testing produces half-measured results, not accounting for important factors like pharmacokinetics. in vivo testing produces results that can be translated to humans, including the fact that no drug will ever be cleared for use by humans before animal testing. It is true that biochemistry varies significantly between species, which is why papers are published analyzing the efficacy of various animal models and finding similarities/differences.

My big thing is, if it was actual experimentation for a scientific logical cause (such as developing vaccines and drugs) sure I don't care, but when I see vivisection that looks like the people are having fun mutating animals, that doesn't make me want to support the science at all.
