While Baraba Stanwyck had a long and enormouskly successful acting career on stage, in movies and TV, this is her "signature" role.

And I suspect that after seeing the film, every teenage girl and young woman in the country wanted sunglasses just like the ones Ms. Stanwyck wore in this scene!

Stanwyck just seems like a complete sociopath in this scene...she's perfect...what an actress.

Tell me. I absolutely adore Barbara Stanwyck. There was nothing she couldn't do. She was capable of far more depth than Crawford and, unlike Davis, was a gifted comedienne.

Check out the little-known The Lady Gambles for her brilliant portrayal of a gambling addict. Seeing that made me put her in a class by herself.
