I believe ZSS is playable from the start here because it's an event... not 100% sure though.

How are you not 100% sure? Are you...98% sure? There is too much evidence. It says so in your description for one thing, and at the end, we clearly see the event screen.

Well some events let you pick your characters... I didn't really pay attention to whether this one was one of them or not.
