  • This is my city. I went to the high school (actually it was later a middle school called Washington on Rice St.) it closed just last year.

Charlie's Bar was actually located at East 7th Street and Earl St. on the east side, not Spanky's. My father was an extra in the movie and I was born in April 1984, approximately 6 months prior to this film's production

  • Thanks for posting. It was my understanding and according to Official Press Material that Spany's use to be located at 7th and Earl and that was the location for Charlie's Bar. Are you thinking IT WAS FILMED AT the New Spanky's location? What scenes was your dad in and can you see him on film?

  • @JamesFilm123 I seem to recall a presskit saying the same thing, but if you look at the scene where Emilio blasts the shotgun @ the 2 Texas guys he's under an overpass (the now demolished Earl St. bridge that was taken down back in like 2003 or '04 or something like that).

My father used to work for St. Paul public schools in the 80's and he was around during the scene in the cafeteria and also during the dance (I'm pretty sure he's not visible tho)

  • what does he remember from the filming anything specific? Did he get any pics? I was an extra at the bowling alley and Charlie's,drove 1000 miles to be in the movie. some gal from there sent me pics of some of the remaining locations and I hope to post them soon. I also took that pic of Charlies Bar in the tribute video. So it was Spanky's on the east side of the bridge that they filmed at,its been so long, and I did notice on google earth that its gone and heard that they demolished others too

  • hey what is the name of the first song played

  • Hey man great vid, thx for posting this!!!

  • Im not from there but from what I heard it may have been torn down awhile back, maybe someone from there can answer that question. I also heard another old building on the other side of the bridge has been torn down as well. Its called PRESERVE. Im glad I snapped that picture of the bar when I was there during the filming. In the movie it was called Charlie's Bar.

  • I liked Emilio Estevez as Mark. He was the best part

  • Thank you for posting this! I have loved this song since 1985!
