I am running for Congress in Texas, if you can help, do so at www.johnjaymyers.com
Lately I am trying to be a uniter and not a divider, trying to find places where the left and I agree.
Anti-war, marriage rights, freedom to do more of what you want without a nanny state.
But... fiscally I just can't relate. The whole welfare entitlement mentality is beyond my comprehension.
I understand wanting to help those in need, I just don't know who would choose the Federal Government to do it. It seems like they kicked butts at "the arts" and flunked Economics.
We have plans to spend $500,000 to create 1 job. How does this make sense?
This is Barack Obama talking about truck driver training, and being asked if he is a bank..... more or less.
Very good, John!!

Excellent post.
I'm curious where that wannabee business man developed the idea that the Government provides start-up money. Answering my own question - from Government schools and because we've allowed the Government to get into the venture capital business.

But it IS about corrupt politicians, earmarks, and special interests. The people who want money for their school are a special interest group. The corrupt politicians give them the handout to get votes. Each special interest group is a minority of the population, but combined, the groups make up a majority, as they all go to the polls and re-elect incumbents who they believe will continue getting them their favors. The ideas in this video make too much sense to be accepted.

I'm not asking for a handout... I'm just asking for a loan from somebody who is willing to put a gun to other people's heads to get their money.

The bit with Obama and that guy asking for his help reminds me of a scene from The Godfather.

"The state should not subsidize intellectual curiosity." - Ronald Reagan
Attending college or a technical school is private education providing advantage to the individual and therefore should be financed with private loans.
