The new airport opened January 13, 2011 and has a 9,500 foot runway.

  • @TheCharmedPhoenix

Incorrect. The new airport is southeast of the city about 7-8 miles from downtown St. George (as the crow flies).

  • @zapazoid

Service to LA will return in March, 2011 from new St George airport.

  • New airport in St. George opened on January 13, 2011. It is about 7-8 miles southeast of the center of town and accessed from I-15 from the new Southwest

    expressway.

  • Well Skywest is bringing in CRJ200 service. We shall see how long it lasts.

  • Ive been hearing forever about the new airport being built and its taking forever to get going on this it seems. Good larger airports are usually a good economical boost for communities like St. George. If you think about it most states and EVEN some cities have more than one large commercial airport but here we are in Utah theres just SLC airport and some smaller airports where a few small turbo props can only go to. THIS BIGGER AIRPORT IS LONG OVER DUE!!!

  • I don't think the new airport is going to be an international airport sorry.

  • I often land at St. George for a bathroom break for the kids on our way to Albuquerque. Its a nice airport with a long runway and reasonable gas prices. They have a nice resturant too but its closed odd days.

  • The new airport is going to be on the West side of St. George out some where between Washington Fields and Arizona border. It's down in the valley, so less winds than on the hill. The new air port is going to be an international airport.

  • I wonder when this news report took place. I also hope the new airport has longer runways than the current St George airport and none of the crosswinds. Landing there has always been an exciting event.
