Winds were 10-14 mph today. Testing the re-designed Boreas 3 alternator. The angular deflection is greatly reduced with the 12" shaft and bearing housing. Much smoother running and pushing into the 37% efficient range now.
Next up is to improve the supports and eliminate the guy wires, then streamline out any support drag.

  • How do you calculate the efficiency ratings of these things?

    Look up Power in the Wind using the US-VAWT.com calculator for this sized Turbine (3' x 6') then compare to the volts x amps output.
