Thomson Airways celebrates a landmark in aviation history as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner celebrates its first arrival in the UK.
Hailed as an epoch in aviation history and the greatest advance in air travel for passengers since the development of Concorde in the early 1970s, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner arrived in the UK for the first time today to be met by Chris Browne, Managing Director of Thomson Airways. The aircraft's arrival at the Farnborough Air Show also marks its first maiden voyage outside the USA.
Thomson Airways, the airline for Thomson and First Choice holidays, will be the first UK airline to take delivery of the 787 Dreamliner in January 2012 and will be taking a total of eight Dreamliners. A further five Boeing 787 Dreamliners will also be taken by TUI Travel PLC, parent company of Thomson Airways, making thirteen aircraft across the group.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will revolutionise air travel for Thomson Airways customers through significant advances in in-flight comfort and wellbeing. The unique composite structure of the 787 means it is at least a fifth more fuel efficient than competitors, creating 20% less emissions and allowing Thomson Airways to fly direct to more exciting far-flung destinations
BTW IM NOT BEING HORRIBLE;D

An excellent plane. But you just have to look at all of Thomson's other planes to see how this one will end up. Thomson's run the most outdated, scruffy, smelly and cramped planes in the whole of the UK. Well along with Thomas Cook. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE THOMSON'S, DON'T LET THIS LOVELY PLANE END UP LIKE THE REST OF THE RUST BUCKETS YOU OPERATE!

Excellent plane, shame it's being sold to a terrible airline. I can't imagine just how nasty that plane will look when they put their awful paint on it. I hope they are going to put a special paint job on it.

later on I think they should make a 787-8F !

@ABBADiego Yeah would be awsome, if Thomson got a 787 painted in the Britannia livery, and had a britannia registration such as G-BYAZ

Looks lovely! I used to fly the old B737-200's like AVRN,(AXNA AXNB the freighers!), I left to go to BA but Britannia were for me the best airline I ever worked for. Bring back the name! Brtannia (Pride in Service!)
