I just wanted to see how I performed a few of the basic moves that I have practiced.
Self taught out of interest and for fun so I know it is not of a good standard =)

If anyone can tell me how to practice catching the whip back in the hand, please let me know (the method where you let the chain fall back into your hand and catch it section by section).

Also if you can tell me about the flag on the end: size, material and attaching method. I would like to add a big chunky one to get that nice thunderous sound =)

Wow, you can hardly see it... best viewed at smaller resolution =(

  • Hey, do you know what would be the maximum/perfect lentgh of the chain whip (without the handle) according to somebody's height or body parts (shoulder height, arms size, etc.) ? Thanks !

  • @aryafeydakin Very late reply, but: I believe the "correct length" without the handle would be from the floor up to your shoulder.

Hold the handle and hold your arm out straight, parallel with the ground. The tip of the chain should be just above the ground.

  • Four People got hit with the sharp part of this weapon in places they'd particularly like to have not hit.

By the way, I just want to say, well-done! I'd like to ask a question, though:

Can the chain whip be used defensively, too? As in, blocking and/or parrying enemy attacks? Or is it purely offensive? And, if it can be defensive, how would one go about the basics for that sort of thing?

Thanks a lot! Again, very good job here- I would probably take forever to learn how to use this.

  • @ryarod Check out this clip, the fight scene from 7:40 onwards uses a chain whip with blocking and trapping techniques. Sure it's a movie, but some good principles in there!

*Search for "iron Monkey 6" by kjackson4101 here on youtube*

Essentially you can hold it like you would a belt for blocking and trapping.

  • ey man how do u git tha chain to swing around ur neck

  • there should be some good tutorials on youtube and generally all over the internet.

I will try and film it with a small explanation tomorrow if you like. Make sure you understand the basic concepts of swinging it under the armpit and around the elbow and the neck is easy to understand.

  • That was well done for only teaching yourself. I also taught myself by watching videos a few years ago and would like to pick up on my training with it again. Loosen up a bit tho! Too tight lol

  • yea... thanks bro thatll b great and alot of help for me

  • When I am trying to remember/learn a new movement in my room, I use a piece of rope with a few knots tied in the end (for a bit of weight). Easy to adjust the length (tie up extra length round palm) and reduces risk of breakages! =)

  • beautiful basics, I pretned I'm using one with a 3 ft. long plastic chain from like a hardware stroe or something, lol but the room isn't tall so I hold it in the middle spinning it so it appears that the chain is a staff rather than a flexible weapon.
