Vulkanwelten 15: Der Thera Kataklysmus / The Thera Cataclysm

(English Subtitle) Der Videofilm schildert die geologische Herausbildung von Santorin, des bedeutendsten Vulkanarchipels in Europa. Es werden sowohl Landschaftsanimationen (erstellt mit Bryce und particleIllusion) als auch Videoaufnahmen vor Ort (Frühling 2011) verwendet. Der dritte und abschließende Teil zeigt den Ablauf und die Folgen der minoischen Eruption und gibt einen Überblick über die aktuelle wissenschaftliche Diskussion. Die beiden weiteren Teile sind „Santorins geologische Geschichte" und „Die minoische Ringinsel".
The video portrays the geological formation of Santorini, the most significant volcanic archipelago in Europe. It uses landscape animations (created with Bryce and particleIllusion) and local video recordings (spring 2011). The third and final part shows the Minoan eruption and its consequences and gives an overview of the current scientific debate. The other two parts are "The Geological History of Santorini" and "The Thera Cataclysm".
