  • I'm not saying fossil fuels are any better, but at least the impact of a scrubbed coal plant is very slow compared to that of a hydro plant. I personally prefer nuclear in the short-term to rapidly reduce our greenhouse and polluting emissions, and to provide a backbone for our infrastructure as we deploy wind, geo and solar-thermal, convection, and ocean current power. As a side-note: did you know that coal power produces greater uncontrolled radioactive emissions than nuclear plants per MWh?
