this story is similar to anyone who was on Grand Cayman. I got great footage too if anyone wants to check it out. Glad you made it out alive :D
-
there are shelters around the island but most of them were on weak grounds and those who had last their homes lives on the western side of the island while other homes were damaged, but repairable
-
the storm lasted for 2 days and the waves lasted for 3 days, and that includes both ts force and hurricane force
-
hey i have one more question—does anyone know about shelters right after the storm? where did those who had lost their homes stay? if anyone has any info, that would be muchly appreciated! :)
NO ELECTRICITY FOR 5 DAYS THATS NOTHING COMPARED TO PALOMA we had no electricity fo 3 months and our island is way smaller than yours

Yes, it's definitely tough to go without electricity. Luckily for us we got off the island after 5 days. But I understand the people who stayed behind were without electricity for months as well. I'm glad I didn't have to go through that. Props to you!

That was a really tough hurricane. I am a born Caymanian and 100% Caymanian and this was my first hurricane. But that is a good thing in a way because bad storms hit Grand Cayman like once every 20 years or so

Yeah, that was a tough one. Did Gustav do a lot of damage? I'm in the US now and was watching the news closely to see how Grand Cayman did during the storm. But the news here didn't really say anything about it.
