The trouble with Alanis gauging her own sense of funny is that it is too strongly
influenced by people around her who will laugh too hard at things she says that aren't even
all that humorous, it's just that she says them and everyone is expected to laugh.
After a while it's just this high-energy thing, and not many real yuks.
If all you have to do is hold your hand in the air to get applause, you tend to lose the ability
to have to work for it.
