how much money is put into a movie depends on how successful it was financially, not IF the director has made another film before. in the case of stanley kubrick, after making "2001: A space oddysey" which had a budget of 12 million dollars and was HUGELY successful, "A Full Metal Jacket" was budgeted at 30 million and was still successful, so his next film in 1999 was budgeted at 65 million and didn't even make back that figure in the box office. he hasn't made a film since.

@TheTechzorro hate to break it to you but you said the movie "paranormal activity" not me so flaming me for the movie paranormal activity doesn't make sense. Ok lets get some perspective, you say people who make good low budget movies spend more money on their next movie like James Cameron so explain to me Alfred Hitchcock, Peter Sellers, Danny Boyle, Robert Rodiguez, Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino These are people i admire. cause after a high budget movie they'll go back to their roots.

a virtual camera system showing in real-time what the actors and animals would look like in another world. a scientifically plausible genome project allowing the plot of a movie to be DOUBLED in complexity. THOSE are ideas.
