Last Saturday on a whim, I decided to head on down to Kansas City to check out the Transcon line. I was going to wait a couple weeks to head on down, but I said screw it and hopped in the car. By the time I left Omaha and got to Olathe, I didn't have a ton of daylight to shoot video, but it turned out to be a great day anyways. I think the the count from 2:00pm to 5:00pm I saw about 13 trains roll by.
In fact, I think I am going to be heading back down there this week for a two day trip so keep your eye out (Im waiting for a new Vertex VX-150 to arrive in the mail so I can take it with). I do have to thank kcrailfan.com for finding this completely awesome place to railfan at.
Most of what I caught was Z trains, but I did manage to catch a coal train, an autorack and a couple mixed freight trains. I also did manage to shoot a couple warbonnets, a KCS and even a couple of Norfolk Southern units (one was leading) - quite the mix.
Anyways, and as always, please feel free to comment and subscribe! Thanks!
