Using the multi-sensory activities in WatchWord (published by Sopris West), students develop the phonological, letter recognition, and letter/sound matching know-how necessary to become natural, fluent readers. They learn to form letters correctly and to understand letter names and sounds. As their mastery increases, children progress to blending letter sounds into words and then to reading two- and three-letter words. By the end of the WatchWord program, all students have a solid start in the reading fundamentals necessary to thrive academically.
The following video clip highlights the oral/motor activities component of WatchWord. This activity helps children develop the awareness and motor control needed for good articulation and to help children focus. For more information on WatchWord, please visit www.sopriswest.com
