  • @pstmnpstmn PIL was very punk when they first started, I remembered buying their first single (Public Image) wrapped in the PIL newspaper but times changed and so did music. I think PIL just changed, their fanbase grew up (such as myself) as did their musical ability and they must surely have realised the next generation would not show much interest. After all PIL has to make a living, it was not a sell out just a changing band no different than The Beatles, U2, Rolling Stones etc

  • @TalkToTheBody PiL was only ever made good by Keith Levene and Jah Wobble, without their music there would be no PiL, which was made evident after they both left.

  • @hayzeephantayzee well said, personally I think John would make an excellent ambassador, controversial maybe but he speaks volumes and rarely have i heard him contradict himself or talk bullshit. He'd make a fine politician, if there was a vacancy for someone pure and honest

  • @TheAbsoluteBeginner why on earth is he a sell out for advertising butter for christ's sake? Advertising is a commerical need, his music is sold based on advertising whetehr it be magazines, tv or just by word of mouth. He got paid for touting a product he no doubt liked and he probably had fun doing it as he did when he went into the jungle. There's too many people attacking this guy, a guy who has an amazing arsenal of knowledge and principles.

  • @jeremyunderground41 I don't think it's a sell out, advertising is a commercial need whether it's on TV or in a Magazine or simply word of mouth. John has never condemned advertising although I guess he dislikes celebrities putting their name to a product they will not stand by. I guess John does like the butter he advertised, he got paid for it too but why not? He did not go against his principles at all. He probably had a good laugh doing it as he did with the jungle

  • @rowdykartel well said

  • @pstmnpstmn ..and as for Malcolm McLaren, he was just a man with a vision and along with Viv Westwood and a unrestful Great Britain helped kick started a punk movement. McLaren sought much more credit from both media and public that he deserved for the Sex Pistols and he lived his life reminding people of it. Sure I think John went way OTT on the video but then he has always liked controversy. PIL was made good by John's irreplaceable vocals and John McGeoch's guitar

  • @pstmnpstmn let's get real here, John was incredibly young in the early days as most kids are. However John had principles and has in my opinion stcuk by them to this very day so I find that admirable. John Lydon simply hates the false glitz and glamour and the ever increasing celebrity asslicking, he likes people who are consistent in their beliefs and people who are not corrupt. John loves Britain I am sure and is no doubt disgusted at the way it's been ruined

  • @TalkToTheBody

yes we agree. The man does what he wants to do despite any "rules" or whatever. Probably more than 90% of youtube commenters. And it's kinda ridiculous when people here tell him (or anyone for that matter) what to do, especially "in the name of punk".

  • Forgot to say, love the man! Totally true! So what if he does occasionally sell out? It`s a capatilisic world h lives in?...He needs to eat too? Costs bread you fuckers!?
