The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) is looking at methods of opening up the way in which top-level domain names are assigned and created. Icann chief executive Dr Paul Twomey told BBC News that, if approved, the proposals could significantly change the landscape of the internet. We can't wait - bring it on.

Kevin Johnson, a Microsoft executive, speaking at the Cannes International Advertising Festival responded to comments from Hilary Schneider of Yahoo! with the claim that the alliance is bad for competition in online advertising

Google's new Trends for Websites is Googles new tool to help people find websites based on demographic and geographical data - something we welcome and recommend as part of our third generation search engine marketing strategy.
