@ZooVisitorMM OK...I do see your point. I love animals, and although many scientists believe that animals do not have emotions, I believe they are capable of having the same emotions we experience: sadness, grief, joy, anger, and so on. Yes, animals really are individuals.

I don't usually like thinking of the animals as having people names. In the past, zoos usually didn't make the animals' names known to the public. But it is becoming more common to do that now.
Anyway, he is one of my favorites at the Zoo.

@awesomeH2O I think zoo animals always had individual names. But in the past, zoo keepers did not want visitors to know the names because they might call out the animals' name and that could interfere with the training that is necessary to examine and treat animals when necessary.
I always think of zoo animals as individuals, but until recently, did not identify them by their names, even in my mind.
