On Wednesday, March 10th, tens of thousands of Tibetans and their supporters worldwide will gather to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Tibetan uprising.
Since 1959, over one million Tibetans have perished under Chinese occupation. Today millions more live in fear.

c'mon, are you born yesterday? Who would leave if one can stay? The difference between the communists and the British is the road into Tibet from the Chinese side. Logistics define the sustainability of an army. Let's face it, there are economic, geo-political and internal political reason for the Chinese to stay.
Hope you kept a handful of Tibetan earth with ya when you left cause that is the only Tibetan earth you would ever see before you die.

The British signed a treaty then left. Its a pity the communists couldn't follow that example.

in 1963
HH the Dalai Lama presented a draft democratic constitution for Tibet.
in 2001
The first direct democratic elections were held by the Tibetan people for the post of Kalon Tripa (Senior Minister) in the history of Tibet.
Its a pity the communist party couldn't match HH Dalai Lama's efforts.

My personal view is that geopolitical interests determined behaviour of governments. As such, the plight of the Tibetan exiles has become a political tainted issue. Hence, their religious leader is entangled in a political struggle. When that religious leader refuse to recognize the issue as a political one and calls himself a religious leader instead of a political one, then this stand does not help to resolve the issue.

Is it me or there is some conflict of interest here? Is it coincidence or is Canada innocence itself?

From Wikipedia:
"The British expedition to Tibet during 1903 and 1904 was an invasion of Tibet by British Indian forces, seeking to prevent the Russian Empire from interfering in Tibetan affairs and thus gaining a base in one of the buffer states surrounding British India."

Allow me to start by a compliment: very nice music. Sounds like traditional Chinese music I heard when I was visiting the West Lake, Hangzhou, China.
Summary of the texts in the video: 1) Tibet was a free country, why send an army to conquer it otherwise? 2) Millions of Tibetans live in fear; and finally 3) Tibet has the right to be a independent country according to International law.
Both first and last claims are from Government of Canada, Department of External affairs (1950).
