Digital Holograms: Now a Reality

Just playing around with the digital hologram from GE's website at:
http://ge.ecomagination.com/site/

Pretty amazing stuff. To recreate it on your own computer, do this:
1. Print this out: http://ge.ecomagination.com/smartgrid/ar/printme.pdf
2. Turn on your webcam and sound
3. Open this page: http://ge.ecomagination.com/smartgrid/ar/solar.html?c_id=direct
4. Hold the paper you just printed out in front of your webcam

yeah its AR, Augmented Reality. The movie avatar uses tons of it

its not a digital hologram its called augmented reality and is the technology to add 3d images into real time video feed.

He didn't in fact it's not even a real hologram, it's virtual.

You only see it on the camera image on the screen, it's not actually suspended in the space next to him.

It's kind of the same thing as a green screen they use to project a background in films.

Only it's 3D.
