You said to get your first tobaccos in 1 ounce sizes, how many normal size bowls will that fill? This might be a dumb question but I'm new to the hobby.

Good info, great music. Who is that?

I bought some Captain Black tonight because it was on sale for almost nothing. I love the way it stays lit and burns cool, but I dislike the flavor and aroma. I cannot describe why. The best I can come up with is to say it smells dank and funky. I would appreciate a recommendation for a relatively inexpensive tobacco that burns like Captain Black, but has taste that is mild, sweet, yet not offensively aromatic?

What is the sax in the back? Is it a song I can download?

@ElroyHarvey Im in a similar position. The guy you described sounds weirdly similar to the guy who runs the tobacco shop near me. You arent from Scotland are you. A long shot but I doubt their are that many disgruntled tobacco shop owners out there.

could you recommend some good brands for pipe tobacco? i live in a small city and the closest thing to a tobacconist is a head shop predominantly for cannabis use. they have 3-8 different pipes depending on when there last shipment was and what they ordered, but tobacco wise there not gonna have much more than what you see at 711.

these are great videos
i am thinking about starting pipe smoking soon
but i do not know anywhere in my area that specializes in pipe tobbacco
we have a few cigar shops and a lot of headshops that sell cigars and tobaccos,
do you think you can name me a few brands that are readily available and enjoyable please? also what do you think of clay pipes?

Does the moisture content/ lack of affect the taste of the tobacco? Should you keep it relatively moist in a humidor or is in a drawer fine like you say? Thanks.
Also i think the music is too loud and kind of distracting to the video, otherwise its great!

Smoke what you like. Like what you smoke.. That's deep/stupid. I don't approve of your arrogant remarks.

@daniel1982 Encouraging people to trust their own experiences, think for themselves, and make enjoying the hobby a priority is arrogant? I wonder what you think of name-calling and telling strangers whether you approve of them? LOL.

I find myself with a bit of a dilema, there is a tobacco shop within a few miles drive of my house which is a pipe smokers heaven, a massive collection of tobaccos, pipes and accesories the only problem is the guy that owns the shop is a complete idiot, he thinks he is really special and a complete snob, he looks down his nose at me and other customers and treats it as if he is doing you a favour selling you what you want and does not want to give advice. It really hurts to give him my money.

I wouldn't spend a penny there then. The people who sell us pipes and tobacco online are no less legitimate or genuine or whatever than the brick and mortar tobacconists. Often they're B&M owners too.
I've found the best selection and prices are online and in many cases the service and superior. There's no need to put up with the service you're getting at your local shop.
