At start of play New Mills FC were three points clear at the top of the North West Counties League Division 1. This was the final 'title deciding' match of the season and the home side AFC Fylde needed a win that would guarantee them the title thanks to their superior goal difference. Now 3-0 up and coasting AFC Fylde are breaking upfield at will. A good surging run ended with a pass to Joe Booth and his first time effort beat the keeper in the far corner sending the AFC Fylde fans into dreamland - the title assured.
