What a load of bullshit. Frenchspeaking Belgians are not against gays and lesbians. The leader of the left party (the main party in the french speaking side of the country) is openly gay! the frenchspeaking are by far the most tolerant population of this country. 25 % of the Flemish population vote for the right wing extremist party called Vlaams Beland that is openly racist, antisemit, sexist and of course antigays!

well, pro-gay almost implies that we're trying to make people gay ^^ but we do think that gay people have as much rights as anyone to live their lives as they see fit. if they love eachother, good, let them marry. it's no one else's business.

@lusobelga C'est bien! Parceque je etudie francais. Je voudrais habiter dans Belgique, le marriage gay n'est pas legal dans L'Australie (Ou j'habite)

@dimiboy123 The French speaking region of Belgium (Waloonia) have been slower than the Flemish region of Belgium to allow equal rights to gays and lesbians. You will probably have a harder time being gay in some French speaking areas than you would in equivalent Flemish speaking areas. That does not mean that all Walloons are homophobic, just like it does not mean that all Flemish people are completely accepting and affirming of gays and lesbians. Overall, my experience has been positive in BE

"the frenchspeaking are by far the most tolerant population of this country."
are you nuts? if you guys were so tolerant then the francophones wouldn't have tried to transform belgium into a french-speaking country, nor would brussels have become a francophone city by driving out the flemish that didn't adapt to the visitors. and so on... it's about time you guys lived up to your past, a past filled with enigrating behaviour towards the flemish. we pay for your right to hateus.
It has taken a while, in part due to bureaucracy, in part due to the fact that I was posted in Africa for my job. However, the good news is that my husband and I are now BOTH the legal parents of our boys. The fun part of this long wait is that our boys were really excited about the news themselves and even wanted to have my last name as well. But, changing names, is even harder than the adoption was... LOL

is belgium a gay friendly country?
MamaMario13 6 months ago
@MamaMario13 Yes, Belgium is very gay friendly. Marriage laws were equalized in 2001 and adoption laws were equalized in 2006. I would say that most people are rather indifferent to gays and lesbians, so long as what you are doing is not illegal or is not interfering with someone else's own rights.

Jorge, est-ce que finalement vous avez pu mettre sur pieds l'adoption intrafamiliale? Ça a duré longtemps?
George

Salut George,
Oui, depuis Oct. 2006 la loi permet aux couples du même sex (mariés ou pas) d'adopter. Cela a duré plus de 6 ans, mais nous avons finalement pu obtenir un traitement d'egalité
