Hey, I found out that I'm going to Gunma. I'm soooo excited!! It was my 2nd pick (after Saitama). I wanted to be near Tokyo, but I wasn't crazy enough to put Tokyo. So I strategized, and it paid off :D. But I still haven't been contacted by my contracting organization, predecessor, or told where in Gunma I'll be living. lol... it's getting late, but today I talked to about 10 others from my city, and only 3 know where they're going yet. (I hate waiting >_<!!) But it's exciting.

I'm working on my 4 year degree so I can join JET! I'm also planning on going to Japan to NILS Japanese Language School for 3 months to learn Japanese. I want to teach English in Japan though! So CONGRATS!!! ^_^

@biglmac Awesome! Congrats :) Let me know where you get placed!
Hows your japanese? Im just wondering because I heard that you dont need to have a BA in japanese or major in japanese. Which means you have to stud on your own correct?

@liljezta1 Hey - yes that is correct, you don't need to have a degree in Japanese but they do encourage you to learn it when you get here.
I do have a degree in Japanese which is helpful but I'm still studying myself.

I'm just curious, do they pay you a salary to live on? My friend got in and returned about a year ago. She says they pay for your living and a small allowance for a few months. But its been awhile since I've talked to her. How does the money work?

@PewpewFighter Hey, yeah the pay is enough to live off, save some and to have a life. I'm on a monthly salary on JET. Money isn't an issue if you are good with it.
