This behind the scenes video on the HenHaus Film Society was edited by the students of the class. The HenHaus Film Society and its Creativity Initiatives partners, KidVision and Global Media Education, have the common purpose of promoting the media industry and media education in classrooms and curriculums for all schools throughout the world.

This class, called PreProPost HD, was a 4 day introductory class designed to teach students the basics of how to create a high quality video from start to finish. Students ranged from 12 to 40+ years of age from both Japan and Hawaii.

Day 1 - Preproduction - Teachers Mark Wolf and Henry Mochida taught the students an overview of the elements involved in preproduction, from scheduling and budgeting, to the value of media ethics and a spirit of collaboration. The Red Cross Hawaii appeared to give the students their mission: to create a PSA for the Red Cross. The students collaborated and created a strong concept together.

Day 2 - Production Teachings - We brought in the Panasonic HVX with lens adapter and the RED Camera, along with Director Osler Go and Director of Photography Shawn Hyatt to give the students a taste of the best in High Definition equipment and the people who know how to use these tools.

Day 3 - Production Shoot Day - The students went out of the classroom and onto location to shoot the PSA for Red Cross. Students received an opportunity to experience the major positions of a production including Director, Director of Photography, Gaffer, and Assistant Director. Chris Lee, Executive Producer of Superman Returns and Valkyrie, had lunch with the students and shared his wealth of experience and wisdom.

Day 4 - Post Production Day - On the final day the class learned about editing theory and an introduction to Final Cut Pro editing software. The students collaborated to edit the footage for the Red Cross PSA and share it with the class. We had cake too!
