Who ever claims this music is written by Jews is misguided or a liar. Jews may have appropriated this music but that is the extent of it. To call these musical examples Jewish music is misguided and incorrect.

@jpstenino If you can show me anything documented to show that this music was written earlier by non-Jews, I would be very interested to see it. See my reply to the more recent comment that Jews are not composers to see how much American music has been influenced by Jewish composers, so I see no reason that it should not have been the case with Russian/Ukrainian music. Our musical creativity over the last hundred years has been well documented.

@oveid This is probably not worth replying to, but for others that may be interested, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Carol King, Leonard Cohen, Neil Diamond, Arlo Guthrie, Meyerbeer, Offenbach, Mendelssohn, and many many more were all Jewish. Where are the Jewish composers???

I love how all the anti-Jewish people are desperately trying to make out that Jews didn't write this music. It's so pathetic. Jewish culture is wonderful and very beautiful!

Speaking of Jewish composers, the greatest classical composer of the 20th century was none other than Gustav Mahler so for those that did not know this..too many more to count and consider. Those who wish to dispute the importance of Jewish artists and musicians, poets and writers, philosophers and scientists and so are dancing on a grave of ignorance and deceit and will fall into its darkness. Greatness is found in this tiny tribe spread over the world.
