Between the barren altiplano capital of La Paz and the verdant Yungas coca capital of Coroico lies one of the most dramatic and deadly roads in the world. Built by the blood and sweat of prisoners during the war with Paraguay in 1932, the Death Road is still the only route that connects Northern Bolivia with the capital. This absurdly narrow road is heavily traversed by buses, minivans, trucks, tankers, taxis, private vehicles, and mountain bikes. Join Cara and John as the ride down the world's most dangerous road. This is a repost.

  • Why don't they renovate the road to make it more safe? Come on!

  • @dennis32 They were building a new one while we were there. The Death Road no longer has trucks on it.

  • come to india streets are more dangerous than these roads

  • @cvhgx I agree to an extent. Streets are dangerous in India because of the drivers not the streets themselves.

  • This road doesn't look that dangerous, providing the weather is dry and you aren't in a large vehicle. The biggest worry for me would be oncoming vehicles, but you get that on many roads

  • @MEareCAT Right, the danger is caused by larger trucks and buses on single lane dirt roads. It's quite tricky passing. For bikers it's fairly safe although several have lost their lives. One of the guides on another bike tour group fell off his bike on the day we went down, so it is dangerous.

  • I would like to walk along this road once in my life! It's marvellous like a dream.

  • you should drive a truck instead of the bicycles=_=?

  • @cvhgx Are you proud of that? In the UK, we have more respect for the safety of others.

  • If I ever travel it, I'm having Chuck Norris drive...

  • Saw that road on top gear, they filmed out from the car window, it looked like they would fall down any time. The truks was driving fast as hell even then they where passing :/

  • Been there last january... beautiful place... not so dangerous as they want us to believe... maybe in the past, but not now... well, while going down by bike we saw a man almost falling down for dead with his bike, but hey, almost is almost!

  • u call this the worlds most dangerous roads lmao, try riding a bus on a hilly region of nepal during monsoon.

  • I wish I could do that!

  • Surely more people die on the roads here in London than there....so really it's just the road that looks the most dangerous.... :S

  • @rubyflipper yea... let's NOT encourage the foolish tourist to come to a poor place and spend money... and make videos that might encourage others to come and spend money so the people who must use the roads can improve the life they live. use your head friendo!
