@steelbonnet - It was just their selling point. If I was going to mark my tools I would electro etch them.

Engraving tools wont stop tool theives, It will only id your tools to your hinest workmates. A theif will either remove the initials, or not give a shit. A better way is to put a secret mark on them, so only you know how to ID them.

Some people are less likely to steal an engraved item because if they are caught with it before they file away the engraving, it's obvious it's not theirs. So it can help prevent theft, but agreed, not as good as locking stuff up!
