Hi! nice video. I try to use the uln2803 as a single npn for my joulethief (search joulethief make is a 20 times more eficient circuit and is very easy.
I connect + to base (1) negative and short leg of the leds to collector (18 or 1 out) and long led to ground (emmiter) but is very dark ...im doing something wrong?...tkx for share

Do you have darlington pair using npn transistor?
example: 3 darlington pair connected together to make 31 led running continuously...

I would: check orientation; check resistor values; check schematic & make sure you've understood the direction of current flow. Without a link to your circuit it's hard for me to say, but I'd guess it's one of those three things. Good luck!

The chip I used is a ULN2803A if you want to look it up. It has eight NPN Darlington pairs built in, so you could use three in parallel to drive a lot of LEDs. I've added a link to my blog (see About This Video) which talks about this in more detail. Hope that helps!
