@higgybaby1 this is true. Gladys and the Pips were giving Aretha competition on the charts during the late 60's/early 70's. And even though Aretha was the leader, Gladys was always right behind her and I think that's why Aretha had problems with Gladys. I agree, if Gladys had been a solo artist, she would be even bigger than she is now.
