If You Ever Change Your Mind

This was my first appearance on "Bagong Kampeon '86" the Philippines' version of "Star Search." I went on to become their Young Vocalist champion until I had to resign when I moved to the U.S. There's some banter/intro in the beginning in Tagalog (you can get the gist of it)... then I sing "If You Ever Change Your Mind" (it was a favorite song of my sister's)... ORIGINAL AIRDATE: Dec. 22, 1985.

Hey sorry, man... I asked "who" because I don't know this person. I may have been born in the Phil., but I left when I was still a kid, and I haven't been there in 21 years. @theproudflip NO RYAN NEVER REACHED THE FINALS. During the batch of Banig, Andrew Reyes was the champion w/ his strong rendition of "you'll never walk alone, a close fight w/ 2nd placer Rowena Lontoc who rendered "ako ang Nagwagi" w/ full conviction, while Josephine Banig Roberto a mass favorite was in 3rd place w/ her soulful rendition of "greatest love of all"

Ryan didn't resign. he lost before completing the 4 straight championship and failed to make it to the finals.

If there's any conceit being shown here, it has been displayed by REGINE VELASQUEZ's rabid fans who DEMAND total recognition for their birit idol from ALL Filipinos here and abroad. I hope the Tasadays, for their own sake, know Regine.

I don't know why some people are too bothered that Mr QUINTOS professed ignorance over REGINE VELASQUEZ or her big-time career in the Philippines. Is it too hard to imagine that not every Filipino has heard of her? Is she newsworthy in the US like LEA SALONGA or IMELDA MARCOS?
